About The Position

The Rural Child Care Advisor plays a vital role in expanding access to quality childcare resources and information across rural communities. This position focuses on outreach, education, and advisory support for families, providers, and community partners rather than case management. The Advisor will operate and travel with the mobile outreach unit to various rural locations, delivering on-site guidance about childcare eligibility, program requirements, and available resources. This role will help bridge the gaps between rural families and essential childcare services by fostering awareness, connecting families to local supports, and building partnerships with workforce centers, providers, and community organizations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of childcare assistance programs, community resources, and rural family needs.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
  • Ability to travel extensively to rural locations and operate a mobile outreach vehicle.
  • Valid CDL (Class A or B minimum) and reliable transportation required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in social services, early childhood education, community outreach, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate the childcare mobile outreach unit to rural areas according to a scheduled route.
  • Provide in-person and virtual information to families and childcare providers on childcare assistance programs, eligibility, and required documentation.
  • Collaborate with workforce centers, schools, and community partners to host outreach events and promote access to childcare support.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable and compassionate resource, guiding families through the childcare application process without performing case management duties.
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, participation, and follow-up needs.
  • Support special initiatives or community events designed to strengthen awareness and improve access to childcare services in underserved rural areas.
  • Ensure the mobile unit is maintained in safe and operable condition and complies with all transportation regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
