About The Position

The role is primarily accountable for support Visa business functions with the development and exceptions to the Visa Rules, addressing Visa Rules inquiries, and conduct initial reviews of Spanish translations of Visa Rules. As required, the role involves managing the complete Visa Rules Committee (VRC) approval process for global and regional tactical and complex waivers. Additionally, the individual performs comprehensive reviews of Spanish translations of Visa Rules, and handles billing for waiver extensions. Collaboration is essential, as this role requires working cross-functionally on a regional and global scale regarding rules inquiries, interpretation, and impact analysis. This role is responsible for developing and revising Visa Rules, guiding waivers through the approval process, and offering updates and guidance to business sponsors and clients throughout. The candidate will work independently under limited supervision. The role requires working with different Business Functions and various teams in different time zones globally. The role will also interact with senior Visa Inc. staff and Local and Regional Management to facilitate development and exceptions to the Visa Rules. We are seeking a highly skilled professional with strong analytical, editorial, and bilingual communication capabilities to join our team. This role requires expertise in drafting, editing, and translating proposals from English to Spanish, as well as transcribing main ideas in Spanish. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present effectively to clients, internal staff, and leadership. Strong analytical writing skills are essential for communicating with Business Sponsors. An editorial background is a plus, along with advanced proofreading, editing, and writing abilities. This individual contributor role is focused on providing advice and interpretation of the Visa Rules to both internal staff and external clients. The successful candidate will oversee multiple proposals in collaboration with business sponsors, prioritizing initiatives and directing staff across various business functions to ensure regulatory and strategic compliance with Visa's framework. This includes upholding the Visa International By-Laws and the Visa Core Rules & Product and Service Rules. Key responsibilities also include reviewing Visa Business News articles before publication, communicating the implementation of new rules and waiver approvals to affected clients, and supporting the continuous development and maintenance of departmental processes and procedures. The role works independently under limited supervision. The role may help coordinate wider projects, including but not limited to the development of new tools, and rules publication quality assurance assistance. The role will influence others within job function and may provide guidance to Visa internal staff.

Requirements

  • 2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD).
  • Ability to diagnose issues and take the lead to solve them collaboratively across Visa and regional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven abilities in negotiating and influencing customers and staff, including strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills to convey complex topics in Plain English and Spanish.
  • Strong analytical aptitude and demonstrated track record of working with data to develop business-oriented solutions, as well as the ability to apply sound business analysis to limit downstream impact of decisions.
  • Good project management skills to coordinate divergent interests.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and translating needs into successful deliverables.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD).
  • Experience with Visa, a Regulatory Body, a Card Membership Organization, or other Financial Industry body and knowledge of Visa Rules.
  • Awareness and understanding of Visa and Client/Industry business priorities.
  • Understanding of Visa products, services, and systems.
  • Working (intermediate) knowledge of Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
  • Visa experience or in-depth knowledge of the payment solutions industry is highly desired—especially Card Payments, ACH, or Push Payments and the relevant network operating rules.

Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple, moderate to complex rule waiver requests from business sponsors, prioritizing as needed.
  • Achieve and contribute to team Objective and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Support staff across various Visa business functions regarding rule waiver topics.
  • Oversees the development of new and revised Visa rules.
  • Guides waiver requests through the approval process, providing regular updates to business sponsors and clients.
  • Communicates approved waivers to all impacted clients.
  • Tracks and ensures the resolution of proposed plans submitted by cross-functional teams and clients.
  • Provides expert advice and interpretation of the Visa Rules to both clients and internal staff in response to inquiries.
  • Interacts with clients, Sales Account Executives, and CS Account Managers to ensure understanding of and compliance with Visa Rules.
  • Executes established Rules and Compliance procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains key relationships with internal clients.
  • Collaborates with clients and internal teams to ensure understanding and adherence to Visa Rules.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of departmental processes and procedures.
  • Supports the Visa Rules Committee's due diligence and governance processes.
  • Demonstrates flexibility by supporting special projects as required.
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a global team, collaborating across different time zones to provide consistent support.
