We are seeking a full-time Rubber Liner Trainee to join our growing team in our Vidor, TX location. The position is 1 st shift Monday-Friday from 6:00am - 2:30pm and requires 40 hours with possible overtime. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: The Rubber Liner trainee position will work closely with others in the railcar rubber-lining department being trained to become a Rubber Liner. The entry level position “Trainee” will: Blast and apply adhesives to the interior of railcars. Blast and apply adhesives to fittings. Disassemble and clean railcars and other various tasks that need to be performed. As the Trainee masters the entry level responsibilities, there is an expectation that they move to a higher level and continue being trained to become a Rubber Liner I. As employees are promoted to higher levels of the craft they will receive merit increases. Job responsibilities of the higher-level Rubber Liners include, but are not limited to, assembling, disassembling, and leak testing of railcar service equipment; cutting rubber; inspection, lining application, and maintenance of rubber lined railcars and railcar service equipment fittings; and any other tasks associated with the operation of the shop when needed, including the duties of the trainees. Work performed on railcars must comply with federal regulatory and industry requirements as well as company procedures & requirements. A Reagent Rubber Liner, entry level/trainee or experienced Rubber Liner, is expected to have the mechanical aptitude and experience to learn, follow instructions and procedures and perform the responsibilities described.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work using supplied fresh air.
  • Must be able to read and follow written procedures, drawings and diagrams.
  • Must be able to do continuous manual labor.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately with attention to detail.
  • Ability to reprioritize based on current dynamics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport; ability to proactively seek solutions using diplomacy and tact, ability to collaborate and cooperate with others.
  • Decision-making, which demonstrates sound judgment.
  • High school education or general education (GED)
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience to learn, follow instructions and procedures and perform the responsibilities described.

Responsibilities

  • Blast and apply adhesives to the interior of railcars.
