About The Position

Join our team as our Roving Maintenance Technician! The Roving Maintenance Technician position is responsible for completing apartment unit turns from start to finish across multiple properties. This role requires a broad range of maintenance skills, strong time awareness, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in varying building systems and environments. This position requires travel between sites throughout the Twin Cities Metro Area and St. Cloud. Potential to travel to Rochester, Mankato and Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Some experience in multifamily or senior housing maintenance.
  • Ability to work effectively with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, flooring, painting, millwork, and appliance systems.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting systems that vary greatly from building to building.
  • Self-starter who can work well independently and in a group environment.
  • Quick learner who comprehends written and verbal directions in English.
  • Thorough, detail oriented, and follows through on assigned tasks.
  • Strong time awareness and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Must possess valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • The Roving Maintenance Technician must be comfortable traveling to work within 60 miles of the corporate office (Plymouth, MN).
  • Monday through Friday
  • 40 Hours Per Week

Responsibilities

  • Complete full unit turns from A–Z, ensuring units are turn ready in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Inspect appliances and diagnose issues for repair or replacement.
  • Conduct small damage repairs in ceilings and walls.
  • Remove and replace sheetrock as needed for painting and repair.
  • Complete turn check list and submit for unit inspection
  • Repair and replace faucets, fill valves, shut‑offs, pop‑ups, toilets, shower cartridges, and related components.
  • Perform necessary water shutdowns as required.
  • Repair and replace outlets, switches, light fixtures, and ballasts.
  • Work with breakers as needed during unit turns.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of heating and cooling systems, including but not limited to Magic Pak units, boilers, furnaces, and air conditioning.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and maintenance across systems that may vary from building to building.
  • Clean HVAC units and change filters as needed during turns.
  • Repair or replace door slabs, trims, handles, hinges, cabinet hinges, and related components.
  • Adjust entry doors, interior doors, closet doors, and screen doors.
  • Fix or replace all door hardware within units.
  • Adjust windows and screens as needed.
  • Adjust cabinets and perform minor cabinet repairs when required.
  • Perform proper painting processes, including patching, sanding, hole repair, caulking, and final paint application.
  • The ability to patch, sand, and paint is extremely important.
  • Perform flooring repairs as required during unit turns.
  • Clean floors/carpets using extractors/carpet cleaners
  • Hang blinds of all types.
  • Ability to caulk as needed throughout the unit.
  • When no unit turns are available, serve as floating maintenance at assigned properties to support daily operations.
  • Assist site maintenance teams with general maintenance tasks, work orders, and special projects as directed.
  • Perform HVAC‑related tasks at various sites, including cleaning, removing, and replacing Magic Pak units.
  • Support heating and cooling system upkeep across buildings, recognizing that systems vary from site to site.
  • Provide flexible coverage to ensure maintenance needs are met across multiple communities within the travel range.
