About The Position

Aeon is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Roving Compliance Specialist to join our Compliance Team. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance across a portfolio of multifamily tax credit and federally subsidized housing properties. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of affordable housing programs, such as Tax Credits, Section 8, and HOME, and will demonstrate a high level of accuracy, organization, and professionalism. This position requires the ability to build strong working relationships with site staff and external agency partners. The Roving Compliance Specialist reports to the Director of Compliance.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of Section 42, Section 8, Section 202, RAD, HOME & Section 811
  • Familiarity with HUD Handbook 4350.3 and EIV
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to engage in interpersonal communication is culturally responsive, ensuring consideration for differing needs and expectations.

  • Must be a resourceful, problem solving, relationship-building, seeker of excellence.
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance and regular access to a reliable vehicle is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 10lbs.
  • Ability to reach above and below the shoulders.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to tour properties including but not limited to inspecting grounds, hallways, stairwells, and apartment homes.
  • Ability to file, open and close file drawers, and enter data into a computer for extended periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with property management software (e.g., Yardi, OneSite, Fortress) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide training and guidance to site staff on compliance procedures and updates
  • Complete income certifications for Housing Tax Credit, Section 8, and other housing programs
  • Review and audit certification files to ensure compliance accuracy and ensure adherence to HUD requirements
  • Monitor rent and income restrictions in accordance with funding agreements
  • Identify, address, and resolve compliance issues in collaboration with the Compliance Team
  • Support annual reporting requirements, including data entry into systems such as PORT and CHART
  • Coordinate responses to property inspections conducted by monitoring agencies
  • Support the Section 811 PRA program, including applicant intake and move-in coordination
