About The Position

We’re hiring experienced, licensed armed security officers to perform roving lot and parking-lot patrols for Walmart properties. You’ll be the visible deterrent, respond to incidents, support store managers, and keep customers and property safe while following all company policies and Alaska law.

Requirements

  • Current Alaska armed security license (must be valid and in good standing). Proof of licensing required at application.
  • Documented firearms training and current firearms qualification certification.
  • Clean criminal history — no felony convictions and no disqualifying misdemeanor convictions (subject to company policy and Alaska licensing rules).
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (must be insurable). Reliable transportation to/from site.
  • Minimum age: 18+ (or 21+ if company policy requires); able to legally carry a firearm under state and federal law.
  • Prior experience in armed security, patrol, loss prevention, or law enforcement strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated conflict de-escalation ability.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and on-call shifts.
  • Must be physically able to perform patrol duties (walk, stand, climb stairs, sit/exit vehicle repeatedly).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience patrolling retail environments or large parking lots.
  • Prior loss prevention or retail security experience.
  • First aid/CPR certification.
  • Familiarity with incident reporting software or two-way radio procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular vehicle and foot patrols of Walmart parking lots and perimeter to deter theft, trespass, loitering, and criminal activity.
  • Monitor parking lot activity and report suspicious persons/vehicles to store management and law enforcement as appropriate.
  • Respond to incidents, de-escalate situations verbally whenever possible, and summon police when required. Follow company use-of-force and firearms policies at all times.
  • Assist with vehicle theft prevention, lost persons, disorderly conduct, and parking/traffic concerns.
  • Complete clear, timely incident reports and activity logs (paper and/or digital) after each shift.
  • Work collaboratively with store management, loss prevention, and local law enforcement.
  • Maintain professional uniform, radio/phone, and patrol vehicle standards.
  • Conduct basic vehicle checks (locked/unlocked, suspicious items) and report hazards (lighting, potholes).
  • Be prepared to provide testimony or statements to law enforcement if needed.

Benefits

  • $30.00 / hour base pay.
  • Overtime and shift differentials may apply per assignment.
  • Opportunity for regular scheduled hours or on-call shifts.
  • Company-provided uniform items and site onboarding.
  • Opportunity for long-term assignments and additional sites for qualified officers.
