About The Position

The Route Manager will supervise our roll-off and front-load drivers and dispatchers. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, hard-working, have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals and groups. The Route manager will be able to work effectively with Microsoft Office Suite, handle multiple projects, and work well in a deadline-driven culture. The Route Manager will be expected to work independently and on a team. The RM will work from the Atlas Disposal Operations Facility in South Sacramento on a shift rotation with 2 other route managers. Shifts will start at 3 am, 5:30 am, and 7:30 am and shifts are typically 10 hours per day. Route managers will be asked to be on call on Saturdays once or twice per month or as needed.

Requirements

• Experience in the transportation industry overseeing drivers.
• Excellent leadership skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient use of computers and typing skills.
• Thorough knowledge of company rules, policies, and procedures.
• Customer service experience.
• Ability to motivate and coach a team for performance.
• Organized with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work alone and with a team.
• Ability to work effectively with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to handle multiple projects
• Ability to work well in a deadline-driven culture

Responsibilities

• Assist with and reinforce company safety programs and policies, and OSHA standards.
• Supervise driver activities to ensure safety, productivity, and service standards are at Atlas’s high-performance level.
• Leading the team to exceed our customer’s expectations in all areas.
• Review and approve timecard hours and productivity reports.
• Maintain and review driver files, records, and reports to track performance.
• Address and resolve customer complaints promptly and perform site checks.
• Ensures that drivers comply with physicals and drug tests.
• Conduct driver in-cab observations and follow drivers in the field.
• Assist with investigations for any injuries or incidents.
• Conduct coaching and disciplinary action for the team as needed.
• Assist the dispatch team as needed.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned.
