At UniFirst, we Always Deliver —for our customers and our people. Join us as a Route Helper and play a key role in supporting our Service Department. In this role, you’ll work alongside Route Service Representatives (RSRs) to help load and unload trucks, deliver and pick up customer garments and products, maintain vehicle safety, and cover routes when needed. When covering a route, you’ll drive a company vehicle to service customer stops along an assigned route, building relationships and ensuring exceptional service.

Requirements

  • Driver’s License & Safe Driving Record: Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and reliable transportation.
  • DOT Compliance: Meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, including a physical exam.
  • Educational Requirements: High school diploma, GED, or military service required.
  • Strong Customer Service Skills: Ability to work independently while maintaining a team-oriented mindset and providing excellent customer service.
  • Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using and learning new technologies to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer experience.
  • Physical Stamina: Capable of lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 50 lbs., with the ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in customer service, route sales, or delivery, roles is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Support Daily Service Operations: Assist RSRs with loading and unloading vehicles, counting and inspecting garments, and scanning garments and products for accuracy.
  • Deliver & Pick Up with Care: Transport clean garments and products to customers, pick up soiled items, and ensure accurate invoice inventories.
  • Provide Route Coverage When Needed: Drive a company vehicle along an assigned route, servicing customers in a professional and timely manner.
  • Engage with Customers: Build relationships by effectively communicating with customers, resolving concerns on the spot, and ensuring a clean, orderly work area at customer sites.
  • Maintain Safety Standards: Perform daily vehicle inspections, keep trucks clean inside and out, and follow all DOT, company, and road safety regulations.
  • Assist with Accounts Receivable: Collect cash and charge payments, obtain signatures, and complete required paperwork accurately.
  • Contribute to Service Success: Work closely with service leadership to keep routes running smoothly, uphold customer satisfaction, and maintain operational efficiency.
