About The Position

Kaman Air Vehicles (KAV) is seeking a Rotor Blade Repair Technician who supports the manufacturing, assembly, and bonding of rotor blade components using adhesives and composite materials. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions to produce high-quality aerospace components in a safe, team-oriented environment. This position is Monday – Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM, with opportunities for overtime. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to consistently follow detailed instructions and standardized work procedures.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and effective communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–3+ years of manufacturing experience (composites or related field preferred).
  • Experience with composite repair and/or adhesive bonding.
  • Familiarity with material control requirements (e.g., traceability, shelf-life/out-time controls, freezer management).

Responsibilities

  • Execute production work to specification by accurately following work orders, travelers/process sheets, and written or verbal instructions.
  • Perform bonding and adhesive lay-up operations, including surface preparation and setup of structures for room-temperature or thermal curing across materials such as wood, composites, sheet metal, and machined parts.
  • Remove discrepant material or boards from rotor blades using woodworking hand tools and applicable mechanical equipment.
  • Shape and blend wood surfaces using templates and contour-matching techniques (via template or visual blending) to meet blade profile requirements.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools (e.g., mallets, scissors, knives, rotary tools/Dremels, sanders, drills) while maintaining proper tool discipline and workmanship standards.
  • Support fixture setup and material handling needs, including assisting with moving fixtures as required.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by providing input to enhance technical documentation, work instructions, and certification processes.
  • Maintain safety, environmental, and quality compliance while meeting production targets; escalate concerns or nonconformances promptly.
  • Work effectively within a team by communicating clearly, maintaining a positive attitude, taking ownership of assigned work, and demonstrating consistent attention to detail.
