About The Position

Stimson Lumber Company’s, [Mill Location], is looking for experienced forklift operators who have worked in a fast-paced industrial environment. Applicants must be able to move safely and quickly, and be able to drive 8-10 hours a day. This is a significant role for someone looking to improve their skillset and advance their careers. Starting Pay: Base pay for this skilled position will start at $24.00-$27.00 per hour. People with significant knowledge and experience may come in at a higher level. Overtime: This position is eligible for Overtime at 1.5 times your base rate. Commute Pay: All Mill employees receive a $350/month fringe benefit to help with the cost of commuting and transportation. This is the equivalent of another $2.00 per hour for full-time employees. Healthcare: Stimson pays 80% of the premiums for healthcare coverage for full-time employees, including medical, dental and vision. 401(k): Stimson provides a 100% match on the first 6% of your pay when you contribute to your 401(k)-retirement account. Profit Sharing: Contributions are deposited annually into your 401(k) account for Profit Sharing, up to 3% of your pay. Bonus: This position is bonus eligible and will receive a discretionary bonus in years when the company and location are profitable. Paid Time-Off: Position offers 9 paid holidays and 2 weeks of paid vacation. Paid sick leave is available for up to 3 days per year. Requirements

  • Basic written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess ability to learn and retain basic technical knowledge regarding the forklift, kiln downloading, kiln building, lumber inventory, and help out at the planer and sawmill forklift positions.
  • Basic mathematic ability.
  • Ability to manage time well.

Responsibilities

  • Active participation in daily QMR''s as assigned.
  • Focus on Continuous Improvement as a mindset and look for areas of potential.
  • Must have proven ability to safely operate Forklift at production level.
  • Must have proven ability to identify lumber units.
  • Required to be on/off the lift repetitively for the entire shift.
  • Work cooperatively with management and co-workers to achieve all safety, quality and production goals set for work environment.
  • Must demonstrate ownership in work performed, fallen sticks and lumber picked up immediately, not driven over.
  • Must demonstrate ownership in forklift and lumber yard cleanliness and organization as well as TPM.
  • Must be adaptive to change and enjoy a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing to work all shifts according to mill work schedule
  • Will be required to work overtime as assigned.
