Mission
The Roaster is responsible for roasting coffee to uphold Joffrey’s quality standards at our corporate production facility and plays a vital role in delivering a consistent, high-quality product. This role supports Joffrey’s mission by ensuring each roast reflects our commitment to craftsmanship, collaboration, and excellence.

Requirements

• Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
• Ability to follow established recipes, procedures, and directions.
• Strong interest in coffee quality, roasting techniques, and product knowledge.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings and occasional weekends.
• Reliability, flexibility, and adaptability to meet production demands.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Bending, stooping, climbing, and repetitive movements.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Work in elevated temperatures due to heat generated by roasting equipment.
• Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Performance of repetitive or sequential tasks.

Nice To Haves

• Experience roasting coffee in a production or retail environment.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in specialty coffee.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in craft-related industries such as craft beer, baking, or culinary arts.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in food manufacturing or production warehouse environments.

Responsibilities

• Set up and monitor each roast, adjusting roaster settings as needed to ensure quality standards are met.
• Prepare various coffee blends according to established formulas and specifications.
• Transfer roasted coffee to appropriate production stations (bagging and grinding) to ensure efficient workflow.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), OSHA safety standards, and applicable health codes at all times.
• Conduct quality tests on roasts using roasted coffee analysis tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with production and quality teams to support consistency and continuous improvement.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and quality objectives
