About The Position

At RK&K, we are hiring a Roadway Group Lead to support existing clients and lead the growth of our roadway group in the Tennessee region. As a senior member of our Tennessee development team, you will focus on managing and delivering a diverse range of roadway projects, advancing technical excellence, and supporting strategic expansion into new service areas. Join our one‑profit‑center team as you lead roadway design and engineering efforts, develop and evaluate design alternatives, mentor talented engineering staff, and guide the successful execution of roadway planning and design projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of AASHTO and local/state design criteria. Coordination with clients, consultants, government agencies, and internal project teams will be essential. Willing to consider candidates throughout the US. This position is available for relocation assistance. Sign‑on bonus also available based on candidate’s experience.

Requirements

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Ten (10)+ years of civil engineering experience focused on roadway/transportation design
  • Tennessee Professional Engineering Registration (PE) or ability to obtain within six (6) months
  • Expertise in MicroStation / GEOPAK / InRoads / OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD / Civil 3D; proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience working with DOT, state, and local government agencies

Nice To Haves

  • Fifteen (15)+ years of roadway/transportation design experience
  • Experience with alternative project delivery methods

Responsibilities

  • Lead roadway and transportation design projects in a dynamic, fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians on roadway design tasks
  • Apply Highway Design Standards and other relevant roadway design manuals and guidelines
  • Produce and oversee the development of construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills; thrive in collaborative team settings
  • Serve as Project/Program and Contractual Manager on roadway and transportation projects
  • Facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations, and project approvals
  • Direct project staff and sub‑consultants
  • Serve as liaison between client and firm
  • Support Business Development and Marketing efforts to secure future clients and workload
