Join AECOM’s Transportation team in Atlanta and take a leadership role in delivering complex, high-impact roadway projects across Georgia. As a Roadway Design Lead Engineer, you will oversee day-to-day engineering production, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and drive the high-quality, on-time delivery of roadway design solutions. You’ll work closely with project leadership while mentoring technical staff and helping shape successful project outcomes. This position offers a hybrid work option, blending flexibility with collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or related discipline and 4 years of related roadway design experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Georgia PE License

  • 8 years of experience designing roadway projects
  • Experience designing Georgia roadway projects

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day roadway engineering production, assigning tasks and maintaining schedule and quality
  • Coordinate roadway design activities across disciplines to ensure technically sound and integrated deliverables
  • Perform detailed QC reviews of calculations, models, plans, quantities, and estimates prior to submittals
  • Ensure compliance with GDOT standards and Plan Development Process requirements
  • Track task-level scope, schedule, and budget; proactively identify and communicate risks or issues to the PM
  • Support development of design criteria and technical approach
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers to support team performance and development
  • Participate in fee, scope, and staffing discussions to support efficient project delivery
