About The Position

QUALIFICATIONS Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Experience/Skills Minimum of two years successful clinical experience Demonstrated ability to perform necessary skills and competencies as outlined on skills checklist Use of all equipment used in job duties Desire to work within a comprehensive health care team Commitment to a healthy lifestyle as a model for participants and staff Expertise in cardiovascular specialty areas Integrates the components of clinician, teacher, and consultant Required Licenses/Certifications Currently licensed as an RN by the Indiana State Board of Nursing CPR ACLS Working Conditions Work is of medium demand in an exercise environment Well-ventilated and well-lit room ROUTINE RESPONSIBILITIES Behavioral Expectations Consistently complies with established Behavioral Expectations Nursing Duties Assists with the orientation of new participants Assists in the development of the plan of care with other staff members Supervises exercise session, monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise Responsible for blood pressure checks on all participants pre- and post-exercise Watches for abnormal responses on the telemetry device Assesses participants pre-, during-, and post-exercise making appropriate referrals and/or recommendations to the participant, other staff, and Medical Director Immediately reports any significant participant conditions (dysrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure responses, change in participant’s status, etc.) to the physician supervising the program Initiates ACLS measures and/or emergency care according to hospital policy Leads participant education sessions in areas of nursing expertise Documentation Responsible for charting and documenting the initial assessment, daily information, and progress of participants Maintains records of participant referral, attendance, discharge, and completion rate Supplies and Equipment Checks emergency supplies and equipment for proper function and adequate supply on a regular basis Knowledgeable of safe use of exercise equipment Demonstrates ability to instruct participants on use of equipment Assures that exercise equipment is maintained in proper working order Educational Activities Keeps current in the field of cardiac rehabilitation through journals, in-services, and conferences Attends a minimum of 80% of monthly departmental staff meetings and reviews/initials meeting minutes when unable to attend

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the orientation of new participants
