The Wound Care RN will function as a support to day to day operations of Meritus Medical Center Departments wound needs through assessment, treatment, and management of complex, acute, and chronic wounds. The Wound Care RN works collaboratively with healthcare team and patients to develop care plans, educate, and follow up. This role sees patients in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Scope of services includes, but is not limited to: stage III & IV pressure injuries, eschar/unstageable, worsening deep tissue injury, complex wounds (superficial granulating or spatial thickness, cavity wound or full thickness wound, burns, venous ulcers, necrotic wounds, open and weeping cellulitis), wound vac application, stoma siting and education, skin issues related to challenging ostomy or peristomal skin issues. Education – Minimum of ASN, BSN or MSN Experience – Minimum of three years of experience providing medical/surgical nursing care RN; experience in advanced wound care diagnoses, treatment methods and supplies Licensure/Certification – Specialty certification recognized by the Magnet Recognition Program™ preferred. Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. BLS. Certification dependent for professional ladder level. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Effective communication and interpsersonal skills; critical thinking and problem solving, effective time management, flexibility in work environment, intermediate computer/keyboard skills, ability to assume resonsibilities beyond patient care, Possess the ability to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/department’s policies and procedures.
