About The Position

Join the #1 hospital in Wisconsin, a Magnet-designated academic medical center, where staff are on the leading edge of their fields creating new therapies and treatments that set the standard of care. This Registered Nurse (RN) position is on a 28-bed unit that serves as a Special Pathogens Unit, caring for adults suffering from complex acute illnesses. The unit provides care for acutely ill patients with conditions such as pneumonia, COPD, CHF, acute and chronic renal failure, cellulitis, gastrointestinal bleeds, liver failure, diseases of addiction, diabetes mellitus, COVID, and altered mental status. Nurses are involved in cutting-edge, evidence-based therapies and research studies to improve patient outcomes, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and lead practice change. The unit fosters a culture of shared governance and empowerment, ensuring each team member has a voice in their clinical and professional practice, and is dedicated to team success and high standards of patient care. Requirements

  • Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit (for Inpatient Units and Central Float (Adult & Pediatric), Venous Access Team (VAT), Radiology, Hemodialysis, Cardiovascular Laboratory).
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience (for eICU).
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire.
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire.
  • ACLS within 6 months.
