About The Position

Join the #1 hospital in Wisconsin, a Magnet-designated academic medical center, as a Registered Nurse (RN) on a 28-bed unit. This role involves providing compassionate and advanced critical thinking skills to care for adults suffering from complex acute illnesses, including patients with pneumonia, COPD, CHF, acute and chronic renal failure, cellulitis, gastrointestinal bleeds, liver failure, diseases of addiction, diabetes mellitus, COVID, and altered mental status. The unit also functions as a Special Pathogens Unit. You will be involved in cutting-edge, evidence-based therapies and research studies to improve patient outcomes, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and lead practice change. The unit fosters a culture of shared governance and empowerment, ensuring every team member has a voice in their clinical and professional practice, and is dedicated to team success and high standards of patient care.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit (for Inpatient Units and Central Float (Adult & Pediatric), Venous Access Team (VAT), Radiology, Hemodialysis, Cardiovascular Laboratory)
  • Two (2) years of nursing experience (for eICU)
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire
  • ACLS within 6 months
