About The Position

Since 1937, Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities in a five-county area. Starting as a land gift to the community from the Smith family, Alton Memorial today is a full-service acute care hospital. Alton Memorial offers patients a variety of inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery services, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24-hour emergency care, ambulance services and more. The emergency department (ED) at Alton Memorial Hospital provides service to patients of all ages, neonate through geriatric, with acuities from minor illness/injuries to cardio-pulmonary arrest. Our triage system screens patients to be seen on severity of illness rather than ''first come, first serve'' basis. The ED utilizes a 5 tier triage system to categorize the patients. Alton Memorial also has the only hospital based ambulance service in the region that we serve. Role Purpose Under the direction of manager, plans, directs, and coordinates activities of a unit on a designated shift. Performs direct patient care as needed and functions as clinical resource to nursing and support staff. Assesses, plans, evaluates and documents the nursing process of assigned unit as needed.

Requirements

Nursing Diploma/Associate's - Nursing
2-5 years
No Experience Supervisor Experience
RN

Bachelor's Degree - Nursing

Responsibilities

Participates in professional development
Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
Develops and implements individual plans of care in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
Provides unit leadership for defined period of time using critical thinking assessment and evaluation skills.
Evaluate patients response and modifies plan of care accordingly throughout the patients' stay.
