We believe that high-performing teams drive groundbreaking medical discoveries and invite all applicants to join us and experience what it means to be part of Mass General Brigham. • Ellison 7 is a fast-paced 36-bed adult inpatient trauma/surgical unit • This unit is an exciting environment where the interventions are cutting-edge. Patients come from all over the globe for the specialty care our nursing and physician staff provide. • Patients on this unit have sustained a multi-trauma event and/or have had surgery. Our surgical patients are recovering from all types of surgeries (mainly abdominal and cancer surgeries) • Candidates are asked to be active members of Ellison 7's environment of learning. As a Dedicated Educational Unit, Ellison 7 partners with nursing schools across Boston and often has clinical groups.
Requirements
- BSN strongly preferred
- Current Massachusetts RN license required
- A minimum of one year of experience is required
- Must be able to work day/night rotation, weekends, and 8 or 12-hour shifts
- Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
- Clinical nursing experience 0-1 year required
- Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
- Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
- Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
- Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
- Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
- Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessment of patients' clinical decision-making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients.
