Cleveland Clinic's Orthopedic department is focused on treating patients with an array of conditions that affect the bones, muscles and joints including musculoskeletal tumors, joint replacements, adult reconstructive surgery, sports medicine, and spine health. Caregivers in the Orthopedic OR use their in-depth experience to perform complex operations with the newest surgical techniques, equipment and devices. Whether you are an experienced RN or a new graduate, all nurses entering an OR specialty unit participate in a comprehensive orientation program to ensure a smooth transition into the surgical environment. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the surgical team to deliver exceptional patient care, from the initial introduction to the final send-off. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills A caregiver in this position works days and on-call from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Orientation hours are 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• New graduate RN OR less than one year of RN work experience

• Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

• Participate in a residency core curriculum based on surgery core learning needs.
• Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
• Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
• Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
• Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
• Document inpatients’ medical records.
