About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor provides administrative oversight, nursing leadership and supervision of all patient care areas including off shifts, weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Associates in Nursing
  • 3 years of nursing leadership
  • BLS
  • NIHSS
  • Active State of Florida RN license

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and gives assignments to the staff assigned to their patients.
  • Observes, assesses, and documents patient symptoms and regularly monitors reactions and patient progress, notifying the physician and related personnel of changes in the patient's condition. Updates clinical records according to policy and procedure.
  • Facilitate formal and informal lines of communication between other departments and Nursing. Promote good communication between the Nursing Division, Medical Staff and the community.
  • Evaluates and participates in Hospital Wide Codes and Rapid Response and initiates emergency, safety practices and fire safety measures as necessary.
  • Investigates and takes appropriate action regarding complaints with patient care or other services. Investigates and evaluates reports of unusual occurrences including staff related incidents and takes timely and appropriate action including completion of appropriate documentation.
  • Patient Care Logistics: Assist in the assignment of staff to nursing units on a shift to shift basis as defined by each unit’s staffing ratios, patientcare needs and resources available; working with the Patient Care Logistics Coordinators and unit Directors or their designee.
  • Patient Care Logistics: Collaborates with the Patient Care Logistics Department in directing, controlling and maximizing patient flow and patient placement processes. Works with Environmental Services to facilitate and expedite patient movement.
  • Patient Care Logistics: Responsible for initiating after hours calls to activate the OR team, IV access RN, Engineering, and any other department required for hospital functioning.
