The Registered Nurse Supervisor is a dynamic leadership role that contributes to the operational management of the unit to promote and support an environment of excellent patient care. An individual in this role ensures compliance with all healthcare standards and requirements established by various licensing, regulatory, and accreditation bodies. An RN Supervisor maintains a working knowledge of policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior. An RN Supervisor provides unit based leadership while engaging staff and promoting evidenced based practice that supports and leads unit and/or organizational changes. An RN Supervisor helps to identify problems, offers solutions, and participates in their resolution. A candidate for this role should be comfortable providing patient care, managing staff, making decisions independently, and assuming managerial duties as necessary. Mentor and precept students and new colleagues. What you will do: Develop, coordinate, and implement staffing plan to ensure adequate care coverage. Evaluate retrospective, current and prospective unit productivity and adjust to reach targeted levels. Coordinate patient admissions, discharges and transfers to achieve most appropriate bed utilization in collaboration with Administrative Coordinator Office. Coordinate response to urgent/emergent situations as evidenced by reallocation of personnel and resources. Participate in patient care activities as determined by unit needs. Implement appropriate service recovery strategies. Coach, mentor and support staff. Collaborate with nursing education to facilitate orientation initiatives and provide preceptor education and support. Participate in hiring, evaluating, initiating corrective action and terminating employees as needed.
