About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse Stroke Coordinator to support and advance our comprehensive stroke program. Baylor Scott & White Health is the only Level I Trauma Center between Dallas and Austin and is Magnet®-designated for nursing excellence. The Stroke Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of the hospital's stroke program to ensure compliance with national standards and accreditation requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, Texas State DSHS, AHA/ASA). This role serves as a clinical resource, educator, and liaison across departments to optimize stroke care delivery, improve patient outcomes, and maintain program excellence. While this role includes patient interaction , it does not involve direct bedside nursing care . Schedule: Full Time (M-F) This position primarily serves as the Stroke Performance Improvement Coordinator, while maintaining the ability to support all aspects of the stroke program when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's (Masters preferred)
  • MAJOR - Nursing
  • 3 Years of Experience
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the hospital's stroke program, including certification readiness and adherence to evidence-based guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards
  • Respond to stroke alerts in the Emergency Department to support real-time quality review and process improvement
  • Ensure timely and appropriate care for stroke patients from pre-hospital, admission, and discharge
  • Identify trends and implement corrective actions for performance improvement
  • Conduct leader rounding and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Lead and support quality initiatives, audits, and data abstraction related to stroke metrics
  • Analyze data, generate reports, and create graphs and dashboards using Microsoft Excel and other tools
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, educators, outreach teams, and external partners
  • Assist with stroke education initiatives and community outreach as needed
  • Maintain clear communication, meet response-time expectations, and manage priorities independently
