About The Position

Memorial Community Hospital & Health System (MCH), located in Blair, Nebraska, is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Specialty Clinic/Infusion team in a PRN status. The ideal candidate will coordinate care and services delivered to patients, working collaboratively with physicians, staff, patients, and their families to provide the best patient outcomes. This position requires flexibility in scheduling and role expectations working with various providers, and a strong ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care across various specialty clinics. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or Iowa.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): upon hire or within 90 days.
  • Chemo Certification: upon hire or within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital or clinic RN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and assist in the overall care of patients, including placing patients in exam rooms, obtaining/updating histories, medication reconciliation, and documenting pertinent information.
  • Perform in efficient & safe administration of medications and/or chemotherapy with appropriate monitoring via various routes, (Including but not limited to IV push, VAD, IM, SQ, IV, oral, rectal transdermal).
  • Provide patient education for scheduled tests, medications, or home instructions.
  • Assist physicians with minor surgical procedures and exams.
  • Make clinical decisions in collaboration with fellow nursing staff.
  • Provide courteous and efficient communication over the telephone to meet caller needs and ensure satisfaction.
  • Utilize sound clinical judgment in patient care situations, seeking assistance if unsure of procedures or actions.
  • Proficiently draw, collect, and document lab work.
  • Recognize and appropriately respond to deviations from departmental policies and procedures.
  • Schedule and follow up on patient tests and procedures, and communicate results as necessary.
  • Administer medications and/or chemotherapy via various routes (IV, IM, SQ, oral, transdermal) safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, organized exam room and nurses’ station, ensuring outdated medicines or supplies are disposed of.
  • Obtain appropriate authorizations and consents for treatment.
  • Document all necessary and pertinent information accurately, completely, legibly, and in a timely manner.
  • Prioritize work requirements and manage patient flow effectively.
