About The Position

The RN Risk Manager is part of the Legal Affairs department and works under general supervision to develop and administer professional risk management/ quality assurance programs. The RN Risk Manager will review and analyze medical records to investigate patient concerns of care and grievances. This position is under a hybrid work schedule that consists of three days in office / 2 days remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • 4 years Of experience to include at least and
  • 2 years Of clinical nursing experience and
  • (RN) REGISTERED NURSE By Board of Nurse Examiners for State of Texas Upon Hire

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years Experience in risk management, quality assurance, case management or related health care management field, or in legal field.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and analyzes medical records to investigate patient concerns of care and grievances; obtains input from clinical providers and clinical supervisors; drafts administrative response to patients. As needed, communicates directly with patients (or other requestor if applicable).
  • Assists faculty, residents, students, and employees with questions and problems concerning patient communications, risk management, potential liability and direction provided by administrative policies. Provides support for quality review processes.
  • Reviews and prepares medical records for legal review; evaluates cases for legal merit and coordinates expert reviews; assists with discovery responses and location of requested documentation.
  • Prepares, or assists in preparing, Professional Liability Committee agendas and materials; participates in Professional Liability Committee meetings.
  • Coordinates management of patient concerns with counterparts at affiliated institutions.
  • Assists with risk management presentations to faculty, residents, and employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
