About The Position

This is a licensed clinical staff position with responsibility for specified cardiac stress testing patient care duties within Cardiovascular Specialists of Central Maryland (CSCM), a practice pod of Johns Hopkins Regional Physicians LLC.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited RN nursing program required; minimum BSN required, MSN desirable.
  • Active MD or Compact RN license at time of hire
  • Graduation from an accredited RN nursing program required; minimum BSN required, MSN desirable.
  • Minimum of 2, preferably 3-5, years of cardiology-specific experience in physician office setting required, with at least one year of significant stress testing experience.
  • Active ACLS and CPR at time of hire

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and monitors patients for stress testing, including nuclear, pharmacological, stress echo, and regular treadmill studies.
  • Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient while conducting cardiac stress tests in the office, under the supervision of the cardiologist.
  • Preps patients for stress testing procedure, including patient interviews, measures vital signs, obtains medical history as needed, and patient teaching related to procedure including risks and complications.
  • Continuously monitors the patient’s blood pressure, heart rate, EKG, and other responses to physical exertion during the test; must be knowledgeable in arrhythmias.
  • Recognizes and immediately responds to any adverse cardiac events or complications; must be familiar with medical emergencies brought on by stress testing and react accordingly.
  • May provide cross coverage for other clinical support staff as required to assure adequate patient care.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
