The 365-bed facility is one of the largest free-standing psychiatric hospitals in the United States. We are located on a serene 37-acre campus in northeast Shelby County, serving as the setting for the treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. Lakeside's comprehensive programs treat disorders such as bipolar disorder, psychological trauma, depression and anxiety, mental illness and addictive disease disorders such as alcoholism, drug addiction and substance abuse. The Triage and Assessment Counselor/Nurse provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, determines appropriate level of care and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. Triage and Assessment Counselor/Nurse receives individual/family walk-ins with compassion, empathy, a sense of urgency, and to ensure each person receives an appropriate assessment. Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description.
Staff must demonstrate knowledge and skill in provision of services to varied population of patients in an inpatient and partial hospital setting.
Education/Licensure: Licensed Physicians, APRN's, Licensed Psychologist, Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Registered Nurses, Masters in Social Work, Masters in Counseling, Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, or Masters of Psychology required.
Experience: Prior emergency department, intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting preferred, but not required.
Licensure/Certification: If Registered Nurse, licensure and registration by the Tennessee Board of Nurse Examiners as a registered nurse.
Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses symptomology, basic chemical dependency, age specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management.
