About The Position

Northeast Georgia Health System is dedicated to improving the health of its communities. This role is for a capable clinician, preferably with previous specialty experience, who is focused on expanding their knowledge and skills. The position involves consistently providing effective direct care as part of an interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients. The RN is expected to seek and provide feedback for improved clinical practice, assume a beginning clinical bedside leadership role, and seek mentoring. Professional involvement includes being a member of VOICE professional nursing shared governance, participating in VOICE councils and Nursing Quality Teams, and actively contributing to the Unit Council to improve nursing sensitive indicators, RN Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, Culture of Safety, and Patient Experience data. The role also involves collaborating with other care team members for recruitment and retention. For new graduate clinical RNs, the focus is on developing knowledge and skills and demonstrating growth in caring for increasingly complex patients. The RN is responsible for providing direct and safe patient care based on the nursing process and coordinating care for assigned patients on a shift to promote clinical outcomes, requiring consultation with more experienced clinicians and accepting feedback for professional development.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia
  • Associates Degree
  • One year of experience as a professional RN (New graduate RNs or those with less than one year of experience will be referred to the RN Residency Program)
  • Delivery of safe, effective, efficient care that meets population specific guidelines
  • Actively works to make own and related teams successful, effectively communicates with patients, families and colleagues at all levels, shows consideration and respect or others and fosters customer service
  • Effectively prioritizes, recognizes problems, and utilizes evidence based practice
  • Demonstrates personal mastery, leadership of self and others, as appropriate, delegates appropriately, and supports NGHS shared governance model
  • Basic computer skills necessary to operate computer systems used on unit

Responsibilities

  • Consistently provide effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients
  • Seek as well as provide feedback for improved clinical practice
  • Assume a beginning clinical bedside leadership role and seek mentoring in this process
  • Be a professional member of VOICE professional nursing shared governance providing feedback on issues being addressed at meetings
  • Participate as a member on VOICE councils and Nursing Quality Teams as appropriate
  • Actively participate on Unit Council helping with plans to improve NDNQI nursing sensitive indicators, RN Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, Culture of Safety, and Patient Experience data
  • Work together with other care team members to recruit and retain an excellent nursing care team
  • For the new graduate clinical RN: focus primarily on developing knowledge and skills and showing growth in ability to care for increasingly complex patients
  • Provide direct and safe patient care based on the nursing process
  • Coordinate care for assigned patients on a shift to promote the achievement of clinical outcomes
  • Require consultation with more experienced clinicians and accept feedback as a constructive professional development tool
  • Demonstrate basic assessment skills
  • Demonstrate the 5 rights of medication administration
  • Manage care for basic patient assignment and progress to care for increasingly complex patients
  • Accurately document all aspects of the nursing process using the electronic medical record as applicable

  • Serve as the Nurse in Charge as necessary fulfilling the following responsibilities: patient flow, matches given resources to patients for shift, escalates concerns using the chain of command
