About The Position

This is a full-time (72 hours per pay period), benefited position as a Registered Nurse in the PreOp-PACU department at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla's brand new tower. The role involves varied 12-hour shifts, with earliest starts at 0430 and latest at 1100, though most shifts begin between 0830-1100. The position requires 1-2 call shifts per 4-week schedule period and minimal Saturday shifts in rotation. The perioperative unit is a 62-bed, high-functioning, evidence-driven team within a Magnet hospital and Level I trauma center, dedicated to exceptional, patient-centered surgical care. Nurses in this unit expertly prepare and recover patients across cardiac cath lab, operating room, interventional radiology, and endoscopy settings, ensuring seamless transitions and top-tier outcomes. The team is supported by cutting-edge technology and cohesive interdisciplinary collaboration, maintaining rigorous standards and adapting fluidly to diverse case volumes with a commitment to quality, compassion, and teamwork. Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year RN experience
  • Current CA RN License
  • Current BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association
  • Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate positive behaviors

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
  • PreOp -PACU RN experience
  • ICU or Emergency department RN experience
  • Flexibility with work environments within the department

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care within the scope of his/her practice
  • Patient care includes assessment, planning and implementing a plan of care and evaluating patients' progress towards expected outcomes
  • Take primary responsibility for the patients' care as delivered by the Care Team under his/her supervision
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the patient care team to ensure optimal patient care
