About The Position

As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pre- and Post-Operative Care Unit (PACU), you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care, monitoring patients’ health, assessing patients’ pre-operative status, administering medication and maintaining up-to-date patient records. You will be caring for pre- and post-operative patients undergoing surgical cases including, but not limited to, general, thoracic, robotics and cardiovascular surgeries. A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00AM – 6:30PM or 8:00AM – 8:30PM, with on-call requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross upon or within one year of hire
  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • 1-2 years of critical care or Emergency Department experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
