About The Position

Our current open position is in our pediatrics department providing compassionate care to children suffering from illnesses or injuries as well as well child visits. The successful candidate will love working with children and is comfortable reassuring parents and communicating with doctors.

Requirements

  • Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean.
  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and CMS regulations.
  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.
  • Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized time system correctly.
  • Completes inservices and returns in a timely fashion.
  • Attends staff meetings, reads monthly staff meeting minutes.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and quality improvement.
  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the mission, vision, core values, ethics and goals of the office/clinic.
  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety and infection control.
  • ? Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with up to six (6) months Registered Nurse experience.
  • ? Current RN license within the state of practice.
  • ? Current BLS Certification.
  • ? Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • ? Additional languages preferred.
  • ? Basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Rendering treatment to pediatric patients and administering vaccinations
  • Communicating with physicians, LPNs, MAs and other medical professionals
  • Creating and contributing to patients' medical records
  • Coordinating pharmacy refills and lab results
  • Responding to inquiries, concerns and complaints from patients and their parents and guardians
  • Managing a high volume of patient visits
  • Patient education
  • Assisting in office procedures
  • Ability to work independently
  • Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Maintains medical equipment; disinfects and sterilizes instruments.
  • Answers telephone calls in a professional manner; refers patient problems to office/clinic Practitioner.
  • Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patients served. Able to interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide care needed by the patient group.
  • Interacts professionally with patient and family and involves patient and family in the formation of the plan of care.
  • Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning; includes family in teaching, as appropriate.
  • Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of lab requirements, requisitions.
  • Maintains established office/clinic policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Plans and provides nursing care with physicians orders.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with office/clinic standards.
  • Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve office/clinic objectives, maintains good employee relations.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of healthcare plans, procedural costs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist physicians with procedures in the office/clinic.
  • Supervises nursing staff; orients new staff.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice and on-going education.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations.
  • Manages patient scheduling and wait times for appointments to provide appropriate access to care
  • Maintains current knowledge related to applicable statutes, regulations, guidelines and standards necessary to perform job duties in accordance with the requirements of HIPAA, Joint Commission, PCMH, federal, state, and local agency standards and regulations
  • Actively participates in performance improvement activities
  • Collaborate in the evaluation and selection of medical equipment and arrange for routine equipment servicing and prompt repairs when necessary;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
