About The Position

The Clinic Nurse- RN Ortho Lead provides direct patient care in a fast-paced orthopedic clinic while serving as a senior clinical resource for nursing and support staff. This role supports clinical consistency and day-to-day operations through guidance, initiative, and experience, while maintaining a primary focus on patient care. Additionally, the Clinic Nurse Lead will collaborate closely with the medical staff to ensure quality care is provided to all patients. The RN Ortho Lead demonstrates effective communication skills and proactively communicates updates, concerns, and clinic needs to the Orthopedic Nurse Supervisor and Clinic Nurse Manager.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of professional nursing principles, techniques, basic sciences, and community health and welfare resources.
  • Ability to apply professional nursing principles, techniques, and basic sciences in homes, clinics, and the community.
  • Ability to conduct written and oral instructions and to exercise judgment in the application of nursing care.
  • Ability to collaborate cooperatively with people and to support an objective attitude.
  • Ability to exercise tact and initiative.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative and the ability to anticipate clinical needs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, providers, and leadership, including timely escalation of concerns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of associate’s degree in nursing (RN)
  • Active unencumbered Registered Nurse license with the ND Board of Nursing
  • Basic Life Support needed (BLS).

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year in clinic setting preferred, but we welcome new graduates.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support preferred (ACLS).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management of patient flow and clinic operations through direct clinical support.
  • Maintain correct and confidential patient records.
  • Support billing and insurance processes as needed.
  • Triage, implement emergency protocols, and provide life-saving interventions as needed.
  • Participates in analyzing and planning coordinated nursing services in an assigned area.
  • Gives skilled nursing care to patients requiring professional nursing service; gives prescribed medications and other treatments.
  • Interprets care plans and shows proper procedures to licensed vocational nurses, nursing aides, and other staff.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for staff by answering questions and reinforcing established workflows and protocols.
  • Use initiative to address day-to-day clinical needs, anticipate issues, and support efficient clinic functions within scope.
  • Communicates effectively with providers, staff, and leadership to ensure continuity and clarity of care.
  • Provides timely updates, communicates concerns, and escalates issues appropriately to the Orthopedic Nurse Supervisor and Clinic Nurse Manager.
  • Provides guidance and support to clinical staff within scope and escalates concerns to leadership when appropriate.
  • Participates in coordinating total clinic services in the interest of the patient.
  • Provides continuity of effective patient and family care by exchanging information and cooperating with workers of other community health and welfare agencies concerned such as hospitals, schools, and industries.
  • Help families in achieving healthy, safe living for all age groups by giving instructions and guidance in the basic principles relating to accident prevention, communicable disease control, nutrition, child growth and development, and physical and emotional fitness.
  • Aids individuals and families to accept and adjust positively to physical, mental, and social limitations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned specific to work area or specialty.
  • Occasional travel to outreach locations needed.
