About The Position

Description: Work Schedule: 80% FTE. Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. No weekends. No holidays. Hours are based off the operational needs of the department. You will work at University Hospital and Eastpark Medical Center both located in Madison, WI. Be part of something remarkable. As an Oncology Intake Registered Nurse (RN) for Hematology (benign and malignant) , you’ll serve as a vital first point of connection for patients entering the UW Health cancer care system. You’ll help guide patients and families during some of their most vulnerable moments, ensuring they feel supported, informed, and confidently connected to the right care team from the very beginning. Serve as the initial clinical point of contact for patients referred to UW Health | Carbone Cancer Center, including new cancer diagnoses, existing diagnoses, and internal specialty referrals. Conduct telephone and portal-based assessments , gathering clinical history and understanding each patient’s current plan of care. Perform high-level clinical triage , identify urgency of referrals, and determine appropriate oncology specialty and care team needs. Ensure all necessary records, imaging, pathology, and diagnostic testing are obtained prior to consultation. Coordinate multidisciplinary care , including scheduling consultations, procedures, and diagnostic tests across multiple departments. Provide education, psychosocial support, and guidance to patients and families during the intake process. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing Required
  • 6 months of relevant clinical experience Required
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire Required
  • CPR/BLS Upon Hire Required
