The Occupational Medicine RN provides onsite occupational health services to promote and restore employee health, prevent illness and injury, support safe work practices, and reduce disability and Workers’ Compensation claims. Applies occupational health nursing principles and an understanding of client operations to identify hazards and advance workplace health and safety initiatives. This position is located in Giles County Position is full time, working 40 hours a week, Monday-Friday, day shift. The Occupational Medicine RN Supports and coordinates the employee wellness program. Assist with virtual care provider appointments and completes POCT. Provides first aid and immediate clinical care for work-related and non-work-related injuries according to client policies. Conducts post-offer physical examinations, pre-employment drug screens, and other occupational assessments. Educates employees on prevention of occupational hazards and promotes healthy work and lifestyle practices. Manages Workers’ Compensation, short-term disability, and long-term disability cases, ensuring timely follow-up and coordinated care. Supports return-to-work processes, including evaluation of accommodations and restricted-duty options. Assesses workplace health needs and implements prevention-focused health and safety programs and initiatives. Serves as a clinical resource to client Environmental Health & Safety, Operations, and Human Resources regarding hazard controls, surveillance strategies, and regulatory requirements. Maintains employee medical records, OSHA logs, and other required documentation in compliance with confidentiality and regulatory standards. Participates in work area and equipment inspections for safety compliance and prepares detailed reports. Conducts research and gathers health and hazard data to support improvements in workplace safety.

Requirements

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
  • Current RN licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Must obtain any client-required certifications as needed.
  • BLS required.
  • Must be able to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make timely clinical decisions.
  • Requires strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to multitask in fast-paced environments.
  • Must maintain knowledge of current health and safety regulations and possess the ability to interact effectively with employees and client leadership.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to client locations are required.
