Job Description Summary: Seeking an experienced day-shift nurse to join our team. Ideal candidates bring strong knowledge of BWC process, occupational health practices, and wellness focused care. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care provided to assigned patients. The role supports associates through injury, preventive health initiatives in a collaborative clinic environment! This position is Monday-Friday from 7:30am - 4pm. The primary work location is within the City Health Department located at 240 Parsons Avenue. The ideal candidate will support the Fire and Police employees with workplace injury exams, workers compensation, phlebotomy, administering vaccines, audiometry exams, EKGs, vitals, rooming patients and supporting the Nurse Practitioner. You will also attend events for new recruits and educational booths during health fair events. As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties. Requirements

  • Diploma
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Ohio Board of Nursing
  • RN - Registered Nurse
  • CPR - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • Field of Study: Nursing
  • Years of Experience 1-2 years

Responsibilities

  • Applies the nursing process to obtain pre-placement and occupational histories.
  • Perform nursing physical exams.
  • Provides general health and safety education and counseling as needed.
  • Performs diagnostic testing and procedures, as needed, such as audiometric, spirometry, EKG and venipuncture
  • Performs substance abuse collection and/or testing as needed, such as urine drug screens, breath alcohol testing.
  • Administers and records medications and immunizations.
  • Performs minor injury treatment, triages injuries/illnesses.
  • Orders and maintains supplies as needed. Ensures that equipment is properly maintained.
  • Coordinates follow-up visits, diagnostic appointments and specialist referrals as needed.
  • Maintains medical records including documentation.
  • Coordinates the exchange of information between employer, employee and physician.
  • Assists with the development of policies and procedures as needed.
  • Assists with utilization reviews and quality assurance procedures as needed.
  • Maintains and updates knowledge in the field of Occupational Health, workers compensation, FMLA, OSHA regulations and Ohio Department of Health regulations. Maintains all licensure and professional certifications.
  • Supervises ancillary personnel as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
