About The Position

Vernon Manor is now hiring for a full-time Nurse Manager. This position works from 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday thru Friday. The Nurse Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing clinical operations within the nursing home. This position includes specialized oversight in one or more clinical areas: Wound Care, MDS (Minimum Data Set) Coordination, and/or Infection Prevention and Control. The Nurse Manager ensures that resident care is delivered in accordance with best practices, regulatory guidelines, and the facility’s standards for quality and safety.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Wisconsin.
  • At least 2–3 years of nursing experience in long-term care or post-acute care.
  • Prior experience in one or more specialty areas (Wound Care, MDS, Infection Control).
  • Strong leadership, communication, clinical, and organizational skills
  • Proficient in EMR and documentation systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead change initiatives

Nice To Haves

  • Wound Care: WCC, CWCN, or equivalent
  • MDS: RAC-CT or AANAC certification
  • Infection Control: CIC, IP-BC, or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and support nursing staff, ensuring high-quality resident care.
  • Facilitate clinical team meetings, care plan reviews, and interdisciplinary communication.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Contribute to Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives.
  • Lead wound prevention and treatment efforts across the facility.
  • Assess, document, and manage all types of wounds including pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and skin conditions.
  • Implement evidence-based wound care protocols and train nursing staff.
  • Monitor healing progress and consult with physicians or wound care specialists.
  • Oversee timely and accurate completion of MDS assessments and care plans.
  • Ensure clinical documentation supports MDS coding and reimbursement.
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure care plans reflect residents' actual needs.
  • Monitor quality measures, care indicators, and assist with survey readiness.
  • Manage the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP).
  • Conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and outbreak tracking.
  • Educate staff on proper infection control procedures, PPE use, and hand hygiene.
  • Ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, OSHA, and local health department standards.
