About the Unit The Medical-Oncology Unit at Corewell Health South is a 36-bed unit specializing in the care of adult patients with medical, cardiovascular, surgical, oncological, hospice and palliative needs. This diverse patient population offers team members a rich and rewarding environment for continuous learning and professional growth. Our unit provides comprehensive care throughout patient admission-from initial diagnosis through treatment, recovery, or palliation. About Corewell Health South – Lakeland Hospitals Corewell Health South is a leading healthcare provider in Southwest Michigan, comprising three hospital systems dedicated to delivering comprehensive, patient centered care. Our network includes an outpatient surgical center, rehabilitation facilities, two long-term care centers, home care and hospice services, and numerous physician practice locations. In collaboration with the Marie Yeager Cancer Center-our regional hub for oncology services- our Oncology Certified RNs provide advanced, compassionate care to those receiving inpatient chemotherapy. Scope of Work The Graduate Nurse plays a key role in the delivery of caring, competent patient care in conjunction with a mentoring Registered Nurse. Will perform assessments in an ongoing and systematic manner, formulate a goal directed plan of care and implement delegated interdependent and independent direct care activities based on skills learning and clinical training, assessment findings and evaluation of any previous interventions. Collaborates with mentoring RN on the nursing process, supporting documentation and other items as appropriate. It is expected that Graduate Nurses will successfully obtain certification/licensure from the State of Michigan and transition into a Registered Nurse role within 60 days.
Requirements
- Associates in Nursing
- Bachelors in Nursing within 5 years
- Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
- MI Registered Nurse (RN)
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days
