Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital's Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a 26-bed nursing unit that provides treatment to patients suffering from various medical problems, such as sepsis, altered mental status, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), stroke, and post-cardiac arrest hypothermia, as well as monitors patients requiring suicide and overdose monitoring. As an RN on this unit, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working a day/night rotation varying between 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of beginning work in the Emergency Department
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department
  • External candidates: two years of recent related nursing experience
  • Internal candidates with less than two years of experience, but are post-orientation/90-day probationary period, may be considered with CNO level review and approval
  • Licensed military RN experience will be considered

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
  • Critical care background

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record and communicate patients' conditions.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
