Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital's Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) is a 26-bed nursing unit that provides treatment to patients suffering from various medical problems, such as sepsis, altered mental status, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), stroke, and post-cardiac arrest hypothermia, as well as monitors patients requiring suicide and overdose monitoring. As an RN on this unit, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. A caregiver in this role works a day/night rotation from 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • One year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required for acute care OR military RN experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, document and communicate patients' conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs.
  • Educate patients and their families.
