About The Position

Responsible and accountable for planning, organizing and directing essential patient care functions for assigned unit. Assists in development, implementation and integration of performance improvement plans into unit practice. Assures implementation and maintenance of departmental/hospital Policies, Procedures and Standards of Care. Assures all State and Federal laws and TJC standards are in compliance in areas of responsibility. Assists with on-unit and department-specific education for clinical staff. Assists in ensuring staff competency, ongoing skills assessment and opportunities for growth. Utilizes nursing research and evidence-based practice in nursing as a model for quality initiatives and nursing excellence. Eisenhower has been a leader in health care for the Coachella Valley since we opened our medical center in 1971. Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in Nursing
California Registered Nurse (RN) license
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA)
WOCN certification by WOCNCB
Four (4) years of clinical RN experience in an acute care setting
Ability to communicate and teach effectively by using dynamic approaches
Ability to delegate tasks effectively, optimize team productivity and ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives
Ability to lead by example, demonstrating integrity, transparency, and accountability in decision-making and actions
Competent in the Scope and Standards of Care for Nursing Professional Development
Contributes to Maintaining a Healthy Work Environment
Knowledge of evidence-based nursing practice
Knowledge of JCAHO, State DPH or other accreditation standards of care
Knowledge of the special needs of the patient population served
Possesses strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills
Strong knowledge and clinical skills in critical care nursing
Strong knowledge of healthcare and regulatory standards in order to meet training needs
Written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

Oversees and coordinates Nursing Education of assigned area; coordinates orientation program for new hires and transfers; develops/coordinates education plans associated with competency validation, addresses specific populations, and promotes the development of bedside nurse leaders; incorporates the principles of adult learning in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of educational programs; coordinates and provides learning opportunities including (but not limited to) courses and classes that promote staff development and competence; utilizes feedback from physicians, directors, nursing staff and other disciplines to develop education plans for areas assigned; ensures educational programs are in alignment with the mission, vision and goals of Eisenhower Health; acts as educational consultant; disciplines on programs to facilitate excellence in patient care utilizing the Relationship-Based Care Model; consults with staff to promote professional development with career pathway or as requested by staff/leadership.
Facilitates nursing research by supporting the integration of research into nursing practice and incorporates, interprets and communicates research findings into program plans.
Provides information, interpretation and guidance to nurses regarding Informatics; Serves as a resource and liaison for the documentation, implementation, design and continuous maintenance of clinical informatics systems in collaboration with the informatics department; serves as content expert for electronic applications for area served; provides guidance in the use of clinical information systems; reviews clinical information system related to areas served for content updates for nursing practice and regulatory requirements; teaches informatics classes for orientation and implementation of new applications.
