Position Overview The clinician in this role will support patients presenting with behavioral health crises, psychiatric symptoms, emotional dysregulation, substance-related complications, and medically complex behavioral needs in an acute care hospital setting. The focus is on patient safety, de-escalation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and stabilization, working closely with nursing leadership, case management, psychiatry, social work, ED teams, and inpatient acute care units. Requirements
- Acute care hospital experience
- Behavioral health or psychiatric nursing background
- Crisis prevention / CPI / de-escalation training
- Experience with violent behavior management protocols
- ED psych hold or inpatient psych exposure
- RN license preferred
- BLS required
- ACLS and psych certifications a plus
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for patients with acute behavioral and psychiatric needs
- Support behavioral crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Collaborate with psychiatry, ED, inpatient, and case management teams
- Monitor patients with safety risks, psychosis, suicidal ideation, or aggression
- Assist with care planning, documentation, and patient progression
- Support safe transitions to inpatient psych, step-down, or discharge planning
- Maintain compliance with hospital safety and restraint protocols
- Promote a therapeutic, calm, and patient-centered environment
