About The Position

An acute care hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire is seeking an experienced RN Manager – Surgery (Operating Room) to lead day-to-day operations within a multi-room surgical services department. This role partners closely with surgical leadership to drive patient safety, staff development, physician collaboration, and fiscal accountability in a high-performing perioperative environment. Strong OR Charge Nurses with demonstrated leadership capability will be considered.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of RN Operating Room experience
  • Active New Hampshire RN license
  • Demonstrated leadership capability in a perioperative setting

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related field
  • Prior experience in a formal OR leadership role
  • Strong RN Operating Room Charge Nurses ready to step into a manager role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operating room operations, including staffing, scheduling, patient flow, and rounding
  • Collaborate with clinical coordinators to support department growth, patient satisfaction, and physician relationships
  • Supervise and direct perioperative nursing care in alignment with organizational policies and standards
  • Support competency development and ongoing education in partnership with the department educator
  • Assist with admission and discharge coordination for surgical patients
  • Interview, hire, evaluate, and coach staff; complete annual performance reviews
  • Implement corrective action and disciplinary processes when required
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, national nursing standards, and perioperative best practices
  • Monitor patient outcomes and participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist with operating and capital budget planning for surgical services
