Akron General’s Operating Room (O.R.) department has a team of dedicated caregivers that work collaboratively to provide the best possible care for their surgical patients. These caregivers are eager and excited to add an Experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to their team. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. RNs scrub and circulate through each service line during a 6-month orientation period and can complete extra rotations on specialty call teams to gain proficiency and join the team. A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) varying shifts. You must work 48 hours within a six week period.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 6 months of hire
• Internal applicants: one year of recent related clinical experience
• External applicants: two years of recent related clinical experience

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Operating Room nursing experience

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.
