About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is a collaborative health care organization focused on improving patient care and the lives of Arkansans, serving as the state’s only comprehensive academic health sciences center. UAMS educates and trains a significant portion of the state’s healthcare professionals, including doctors, scientists, nurses, pharmacists, through innovation, compassion, teamwork, and patient- and family-centered care. This Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Main Operating Room involves providing direct patient care, coordinating and triaging patient care, and collaborating with clinic providers, fellows, and staff. The role requires the ability to effectively work with patient referral sources, facilitate appointments, coordinate transitions of care, and provide patient education on complex conditions. The RN will also work with individual patients, their families, and care providers to develop and implement individual health plans.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with an Associate's Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's in Nursing, or Master's in Nursing
Valid RN License
Minimum of 1 year Registered Nursing experience.

Responsibilities

Collects and documents assessment data from patients and/or others per UAMS standard.
Develops patient's Plan of Care (POC) per department/unit standards utilizing assessment data.
Evaluates the progress of patients toward attainment of desired outcomes.
Administers medication following department/unit standards and the Nurse Practice Act.
Verifies and evaluates care delivered to ensure it is consistent with patient and family-centered care principles, practice standards, and regulatory requirements.
Supports the integration of current evidence into nursing practices.
Promotes an environment conducive to positive educational experience for all students and staff.
Provides effective patient/family education/discharge planning.
Effectively collaborates and communicates with nursing staff at all levels, interdisciplinary teams, executive leaders, and other stakeholders.
Communicates care appropriately through documentation in the medical record.
Reports variances in care/ systems/ processes through the appropriate means.
Participates in the recruitment/retention of staff.
Facilitates the development and implementation of nursing practice standards that are evidence-based and in compliance with ANA standards.
May perform other duties as assigned.
