About The Position

The role of a Respite Nurse is to offer one-on-one time between a child and licensed nurse within the family’s home or community. Respite care is designed to give families a break from the day-to-day care involved in raising a child with special healthcare needs. ChildServe’s respite service allows parents to attend events for their other children, schedule appointments for themselves, or simply take time to recharge. Schedule Primarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Can be regularly scheduled or as needed. Requirements

• Current valid license as a RN or LPN in Iowa.
• Valid driver’s license with two or fewer violations in the past three years
• Active BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
• Ability to communicate effectively in (or through) reading, writing and speaking the English language.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one nursing support in the home or community
• Interact with the child and participate in fun activities
• Complete electronic documentation and paper MARS
• Possible skills used: medication administration, g-tube nutrition, seizure management, trach cares, etc.
