About The Position

A Brief Overview Provides accurate and timely information to visitors and callers. Responsibilities include pre-certifying with insurance companies, filing, scheduling, maintaining records in the Electronic Medical Record system, processing patient specimens, and direct patient care. This role assists providers with office procedures. Administrative tasks include scheduling appointments, billing, coding, and maintaining medical records. Clinical duties include taking and recording vital signs, documenting medical histories, preparing patients for exams, drawing blood, and administering medications under physician or advanced practice provider direction. Adaptability to varied tasks is essential.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
  • Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants Required
  • 1-3 years experience in a medical office Preferred
  • Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Certified Medical Assistant Required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support & First Aid - American Heart Association within 60 Days Required
  • Child Abuse Iowa Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days Required
  • Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter - Iowa Department of Human Services within 180 Days Required
  • One Year Certificate from College or Tech School
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Required
  • 1-3 years Health care experience Preferred
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career

  • Licensed Practical Nurse Iowa Board of Nursing (IBON) (United States of America) Required
  • Associate’s Degree (AA) Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Required
