About The Position

Join our specialized IV Team and provide expert vascular access care for patients with complex or difficult access needs. This role is ideal for experienced RNs seeking autonomy, advanced practice skills, and meaningful impact across multiple units. What You’ll Do Perform ultrasound‑guided peripheral IV insertions and midline catheter placements Complete sterile dressing changes , port access/de‑access , and phlebotomy for difficult venous access patients Assess vascular access needs and recommend appropriate device selection Collaborate with physicians and bedside nurses to support optimal patient care Troubleshoot line‑related issues and promote best practices in vascular access What You Bring Strong clinical experience with aseptic technique , vascular anatomy , and infection‑prevention standards Ability to work independently and prioritize consults across multiple departments Excellent time‑management, communication, and critical‑thinking skills A resource‑driven mindset, supporting staff education and patient‑safety initiatives Responsibilities The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/she functions within the framework of the policies and procedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growth and accountability. The staff nurse is responsible for maintaining standards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of all assigned staff in the provision of quality nursing care.

Requirements

  • Strong clinical experience with aseptic technique , vascular anatomy , and infection‑prevention standards
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize consults across multiple departments
  • Excellent time‑management, communication, and critical‑thinking skills
  • A resource‑driven mindset, supporting staff education and patient‑safety initiatives
  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing Required
  • New Graduates of a nursing program eligible Required
  • Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License. Required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support Required
  • ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days Required
  • ACLS and PALS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days Required
  • Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification – prior to independent chemotherapy administration Upon Hire Required
  • PALS Certification - required at Piedmont Columbus Hospital (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) PEARS or PALS Certification - required at Piedmont Athens Hospital (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) within 180 Days Required
  • PreOp/PACU/ENDO/CSU – ACLS; PALS if unit provides care to pediatric patients (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) OR – BLS required only within 180 Days Required
  • Labor and Delivery-ACLS Certification - (Nurse Residents or nurses new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) NRP by the end of orientation period, AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Program within 12 months of start date Mother/Baby- NRP by the end of orientation period NICU- NRP by the end of orientation period NAT (Newborn Admission Team)- NRP by the end of orientation period Nursery- NRP by the end of orientation period within 180 Days Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Nursing Experience in Hospital Setting Preferred
  • 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions Preferred
  • Advanced certification in field of specialty, if applicable (see addendum)
  • CDN (Certified Dialysis Certificate) preferred Preferred
