About The Position

Nights/6:45pm-7:15am $10,000 Sign On Bonus for Full Time Positions Be part of a dynamic, 46-bed medical-surgical Surgical/Orthopedic unit where your nursing skills play a vital role in patient recovery and outcomes. Our team cares for both pre- and post-operative surgical patients, as well as general medical patients, in a fast-paced, supportive environment. Nurses are trained across a wide range of surgical specialties, including knee and hip replacements, abdominal surgeries, and thoracic and vascular cases, providing opportunities to expand clinical expertise. You will also care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring, working closely with an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. Practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, UnityPoint Health’s Philosophy of Nursing, and the Professional Nurse Practice Model, fostering collaboration, professionalism, and excellence in nursing practice. Requirements

Diploma from an RN program.
Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in primary state.
Must apply within 90 days for licensure in secondary state.
Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Work may occasionally require travel to other UPH facilities.

Responsibilities

Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making the necessary referrals to provide continuity of care.
Develops an individual plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and health care team.
Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
Assess and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to the patient’s and their families’ age specific needs, culture, gender, readiness to learn and level of comprehension.
Continues professional development and involvement in professional activities that enhance nursing practice by sharing knowledge through networking and research.
