About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. The 5SE unit is a 47-bed Medical/Surgical unit serving Nephrology, Urology, Oral-Maxillary/Facial, surgical oncology and general surgery patients, including kidney transplants, gynecologic, colorectal, urologic, breast and plastics, laparoscopic procedures, maxillofacial, and general surgical procedures. The role is for candidates who have a passion for meeting the needs of complex medical/surgical patients and can be a place to hone care skills or a steppingstone for future interest in ICU, OR, Oncology or ER. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Obtain and subsequently maintain required department specific competencies and certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients.
  • Collaborate with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care.
  • Demonstrate competency and practice within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge.
  • Utilize appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting.
  • Care for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as patients move along the continuum of care.
  • Plan and coordinate care.
  • Perform patient assessment.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Perform triage and various other nursing interventions.
  • Function within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure.
  • Adhere to the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association.
