About The Position

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is for the American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI, a nationally known Magnet®-designated facility. The hospital provides specialized care in a healing environment for pediatric patients and their families, functioning as a comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center with nationally recognized specialists. It also houses a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and a Level IV NICU. The role involves working 90% FTE, primarily on 8/12 hour evening/night shifts with an every other weekend rotation, though hours may vary based on departmental needs. The RN will be part of a multidisciplinary team, coordinating holistic care plans for patients and families. This includes caring for children dependent on technology like home ventilators, home dialysis, and tracheostomies, as well as patients with acute and chronic nephrology diseases, new diagnoses of type 1 diabetes, epilepsy, and idiopathic/non-idiopathic scoliosis.

Requirements

  • Six (6) months nursing experience in Inpatient Units and Central Float (Adult & Pediatric), Venous Access Team (VAT), Radiology, Hemodialysis, Cardiovascular Laboratory, or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire
  • PALS within 12 months

Responsibilities
